Lily Pads by Jacqueline Cahill
The lily pads in Kakadu National Park are a stunning sight, often found floating serenely on the park's wetlands and billabongs. These large, round pads can measure up to a meter in diameter and are typically bright green, providing a vibrant contrast to the surrounding water.
The pads are home to beautiful water lilies, which bloom in a variety of colours, including white, pink, and yellow. The flowers rise above the water during the day, creating a striking display, while at night they often close up. The lily pads not only enhance the beauty of the landscape but also play an important ecological role, providing habitat for various aquatic species, including fish, frogs, and insects.
