Collection: Robert Namarnyilk

Robert was born at Mudjinberri Station in Kakadu National Park where his father drove cattle. His father was Spider Namirrki, a ceremonial man, artist and worker at Mudjinberri Station. When Robert’s father passed away, Jimmy Galareya Namarnyilk ensured Robert and his brothers attended periods of graded and formal ceremony.

Robert is a very talented artist and paints with a unique style that is very detailed and exacting. Robert is probably the most traditional of artists in the Kakadu and Arnhemland region and paints using traditional methods solely using ochre and white clay for colour and a reed for his line work.

In Robert’s spare time you can see him driving the Guluyambi cultural cruise along the East Alligator River.
