Cheryl comes from Maningrida, Mumeka Outstation, Maningrida is one of the largest remote towns in the Northern Territory, and is located approximately 500km east of Darwin in Arnhem Land, home for traditional painters, body art, rock art and cultural practices.
Cheryl was taught to weave by her mother and grandmother at a very young. Her work is characterised by using bright / vivid colours and traditional weaving techniques, using and preparing natural fibres creating a range of different decorative pieces. All materials used are 100% locally sourced including the vivid dyes and colouring.
