Collection: Allan Namaniyuo
Allan is a young family man with deep roots in artistry and traditional Bininj life. He was raised in the bush and often returns with family on hunting expeditions and for ceremony. Allan has been taught from a very young age (8 years old) to paint by his father and uncles along with the many artists from Maningrida region. This area of Arnhem land is renowned for the vast traditional painters and art in the stone country and is largely where Bininj men will go for business/ceremony.
Allan paints a range of bush tucker and has a distinctive style that is quite unique. He enjoys teaching the younger boys (wurrdud) that are interested in him sitting and showing the Xray style and will often see animals like: long neck turtle, brolga, goanna, frilly neck lizards, various snakes, echidna and fish. Mimi spirits are also a great favourite and are featured in dancing or ceremony images.
He is known to have art exhibited and sold in Injalak Arts at the Border Store and will make the journey to Jabiru to sell his art pieces to Warradjan Cultural Centre and Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel.
